It is fundamental to all disciplines which use location data or map data. Nearly 70 universities and Institutes provide M.Sc./ M.Tech, PG diploma and certificate courses in Remote Sensing, GIS and Geoinformatics. Generally science graduates are eligible for such courses but the admission criteria and minimum qualification varies. PG Diploma in RS/GIS or Geoinformatics is offered by about 25 universities.
